FAQ's

  • What is my commitment?

We ask that our staff commit to the full 10 weeks of the summer at Camp Wabanna. However, we recognize that this is not always possible for every person who applies at camp. We are able to make arrangements on a case by case basis to work with the applicants schedule as appropriate and necessary.

  • What is the application and interview process like?

Each prospective staff member will complete an online application, provide 3 Character references, and a minimum of 2 telephone interviews with 2 different supervisors. In person interviews will be conducted as able based upon the location of the staff member. All initial interviews are conducted via telephone.

A minimum of 1 pastoral reference is required for all Counseling and returning staff applicants.

All hires are conditional based upon: 1. The completion of a background check, both state and national. 2. The satisfactory completion of all necessary training. 3. The continued agreement with and adherence to the doctrinal statement and ethics agreement signed during the application process.

  • What is expected of me?

The expectation of an employee at camp, is a desire to serve. Camp is all about the campers, therefore it must be the desire of a camp employee to serve those campers in a Christlike way. They must also recognize the need for a code of conduct that is above reproach both during the camp sessions as well as in public interactions.

Wabanna seeks to employ those who are actively engaged in a local church and who are seeking to grow in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).

  • How will spending a summer at camp help me grow?

The full-time staff and summer leadership team is committed to training, teaching, and instructing in the truth of God’s word, and helping each of our employees to apply that knowledge to their daily life. We believe that camp is the perfect place to provide opportunity for growth in loving service, communication of truth, and deepening conviction of the sufficiency of the Word of God.

Our prayer is that by working in the camp environment, convictions already form in the truth of God’s word will be cemented, that new habits and convictions will form from being instructed in the Word of God, and that by growing in this truth, the desire to serve others, to see them grow in Christlikeness, and to make known the Gospel of Jesus Christ will only increase in the heart of each staff member to the glory of God.

  • Do I live at camp, even if I apply for Day Camp?

Yes, all of the staff at Camp Wabanna will be provided with lodging for the duration of the summer, this is to serve our staff and provide a space apart from the every day life of the employee to be intentional in forming strong convictions, community, and FUN!
